Grandfather Shot By Granddaughter’s Boyfriend

David Kentrell Williams

Back in April, 70-year-old, James “Jammie” Mintz was killed in an altercation overnight at his home in Detroit.

Family members told news outlets that Jammie Mintz was shot in his home sometime after discovering his 14-year-old granddaughter snuck a 17-year-old male into the home. Mintz asked the boy to leave, which ignited an argument and subsequent struggle over a gun. As Mintz and the boy fought over the gun, the boy gained control of the gun and fatally shot Mintz in the chest.

Soon after shooting Mintz, the boy went on the run. His mother appeared on the news and pleaded with her son, David Kentrell Williams, to turn himself in.

“I’m on the news,” she said. “I probably look a mess, but I’ll do it for you. I’ll do it all for you. Just please come talk to me,” said David’s mom.

Williams was indicted and tried for second degree homicide and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Shockingly!!! Williams was found not guilty of killing Mintz and guilty of the firearm charge. A senseless tragic murder and no one held accountable. Mintz was a Vietnam War vet. He survived the Vietnam War, but did not survive being safe in his own home because his daughter invited the enemy in. Sad.
